The Application of Characteristics Method In Hypersonic Flow

The method of characteristics as an exact numerical method is developed in this article for the steady two and three dimensional hypersonic flow of an inviscid compressiblefluid in the absence of heat transfer, work, and body forces. Complete numerical are developed for the unit processes for an interior point, a direct wall point, and an external shock wave point, so the shape of an external shock can be determined Some results of using characteristics method are compared with experimental results and it is found that the agreement is excellent.
