Globalization Effects on Pattern of Iranʹs Import Demand (1952-2003)

In recent decades globalization has had an important role in trade and development. In this paper effects of globalization on import demand pattern of Iran have been reviewed. For this purpose, two hypothesis have been tested: I- Traditional models of endogenous relative price pattern is not a suitable model for estimation of import demand because of its import constrains. 2- Globalization has positive affects on import demand of Iran. Using the econometric techniques, the hypotheses have been tested. Results show that relative price variable coefficient in the import demand pattern is not linearly confident and it seems that globalization phenomenon would cause cause an increase in imports of Iran.
