Karyologicai study of Azarbayjan native buffalo (Bubalus bubatis)

For the karyotype determination of Azarbayjanian native buffalo, peripheral blood lymphocyte culture method was used in male and female buffaloes. The diploid model number of chromosomes showed 2n=50, out of which 24 pairs are autosomes. First five large pairs are submetacenteric and the rest of other 19 pairs are in telocenteric position. Two sex chromosomes are telocenteric too. The X chromosome is the largest telocentric in metaphase cells and the Y chromosome is also in telocentric group. G-band technique was used for adequate chromosome identification.
