Geographical Investigation on Crimes at Tehran

With regard to the high rate of crimes and murders in the country and in particular Tehran city, the political center and the largest city of the country, as compared with other countries of the world; while studying the geographical distribution of the crimes and identifying the crime- rising locations at Tehran city, in this paper efforts have been made to evaluate the impact of the locational conditions of the city and crime areas on committing illegal behaviors and activities. In this study, the correlation analysis methods and crime possibility based on random class sampling has been used. The results of the research show that there is a meaningful relation between crime perpetuating and characteristic of the location of crime such as darkness and solitude of the environment. Furthermore, the density of the population acts as an effective factor in committing crimes. This phenomenon has caused increase in the rate of crimes at the central part of Tehran City.
