Scientific Note New Report of Homalotylus nigricornis Mercet (Hym.: Encyrtidae) in Iran

During sampling on natural enemies associated with cotton aphids in Moghan region, northwest of Iran, some parasitized larvae of predaceous ladybird, Scymnus (Col.: Coccinellidae) were collected on Aphis gossypii Glover (Horn.: Aphididae). After rearing them in the laboratory of Agricultural Research Center of Moghan, a parasitiod wasp hatched from each hosts. Based on morphological studies and using the taxonomic keys, it was identified as Homalotylus nigricornis Mercet (Hym.: Encyrtidae). It was later confirmed by Dr. Zhi bong Xu (China). It is new record of this parasitoid for Iranian fauna. The wasp has been reported before from Hungry, Czech, Slovakia, Armenia, Bulgaria, Tadzhikasan. The population of the parasitoid isnʹt considerable in Moghan.
