بررسي نيازهاي آموزشي زنان 49-15 ساله استان يزد در زمينه بهداشت مادر و كودك و تنظيم خانواده

As Health Education needs of women in the reproductive age group (15-49 years) are important for the better health of pregnant women and their future infants, this descriptive study was performed in the city of Yazd during the year 2000. A total of 540 women in the reproductive age group were selected by th cluster random sampling method, and then interviewed and asked to fill out a questionnaire. The results showed that 36.8% of the women were between 25-35 years and 8.9% had a university degree. 11.3% of the women were illiterate. On the whole, the level of the knowledge of those included in the study was good, ie, a score of more than 50%(based on the questionnaire), but considering the importance of care during pregnancy and infant growth, it is necessary to increase the level to 100%. 88.7% of the women wanted to have 3 children or less, while only 11.3% wanted to have more than 3 children, or were not sure about the number of children they wanted. 30.1% of the women had at least one unwanted child, and this points out to the fact that increasing the level of knowledge and awareness about Family Planning and Health Education among woen in the reproductive age group to 100% is a necessity.
