STUDY OF THE ATTITUDE OF SCHOOL TEACHERS IN MERMAN TOWARDS SEXUAL EDUCATION , AND THEIR OPINION REGARDING CONTENTS OF ADOLESCENT SEXUAL EDUCATION

This study was a descriptive one and entitled, " Study of the attitude of school teachers in Kerman toward sexual education, and their opinion regarding contents of adolescent sexual education". The sample size was 400 teachers from Junior and Senior high schools in Kerman. A specially questionnaire used for data collection consisted of three parts; the first part included personal characteristics, the second 20 attitude items and the third part 26 opinions. The data was gathered after reliability and validity determination. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for data analysis. The mean score of the teachers regarding their attitude towards sexual education was 65.7%. The results showed that 83% of teachers believed that items such as menstruation (its etiology and religious questions), and AIDS (its etiology, methods of prevention and transmission) need to be taught completely. The results also showed that 21% of teachers disagreed to educating girls about abortion, while 26% did not agree to education of both male and female students about contraceptive methods.
