Numerical taxonomy, used in classification of plants, may improve the existing systems of plant classification. Polygonaceae has been subject of debated by many scientists. Yet, there is no report of comparison among morphological and statistical information. Therefore, we decided to investigate the above aspect in some genera and species of polygonaceae in Kerman province. Fresh living material was collected from their natural habitats in Kerman. Herbarium specimens were also examined to check the identity of the collected material. Thirty six morphological characters of all parts of the plants were studied. Applicaition of prinicipal component analysis and cluster analysis revealed the presence of four different clusters in family of Polygonaceae each represented on genus (Polygonum, Rumex, Rheum, Pteropyrum). Cluster analysis of morphological characteristics in genus Polygonum supports recognition of two sections, Polygonum and Persicaria. Polygonum minus Hudson, FL. Appears in Persicaria. In herbaceous species, Polygonum molliaeforme Boiss. is isolated from other species. Based on morphological characters two subgenera, Acetosa and Rumex, have been recognized by cluster analysis in Rumex. In cluster analysis of morphological characteristic in Polygonaceae Rheum ribes L. is isolated from other genus, by distinct cluster, because of its different characteristics.
