The influence of Ghazali on the interpretive views of Sadr al-Motaʹallehin

As a great Muslim thinker, Ghazali has profoundly influenced the scholars, specially Sunni scholars, who lived after him. While in his Tahafatol Falasefeh, Ghazali has sharply criticized philosophers, and while he does not hold Shiʹites in high respect because of his Ashaʹri inclinations, it cannot be denied that Sadr al-Motaʹallehin, the great Imamiyeh scholastic theologian and philosopher, has been influenced by the interpretive views of Ghazali. How and why Mula Sadra has been influenced by Ghazali? This is the question the present writer deals with in this article.
