Hoopoe and Its Secret

The bird hoopoe is mentioned in Naml Sura whose longest part deals with the prophet Solomon in verses 15 to 44 . First, it is stated that God taught Davood and Solomon knowledge and they both said: Praise is due to Allah who bestowed upon us superiorityʹ. Solomon emphasized that he was taught the Language of birds. When Solomon reached the city of ants, he could not see hoopoe among the birds. Being angry, he said he would punish it unless the bird gave an acceptable reason. The hoopoe told Solomon what it had seen in Saba. To check hoopoeʹs truthfulness, he ordered the bird to take a letter to Saba to check her reaction.
