Separation and identification of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Azolla of the Anzali Lagoon by Gc/Ms

In this research sampling of azolla was done in the southwest (Siahkeshim), center (Hendekhaleh) and east (Sheijan) of the Anzali Lagoon in summer and autumn (2001). Extraction of PAHs in azolla were done by soxhlet and shaker methods. Separation and identification of PAHs in extracted samples were done by ion trap and quadrupole GC/MS and thirteen PAHs were detected and identified.In addition using available PAHs standard, Selected Ion Monitoring (SIM) technique was also used for further confirmation of identified PAHs.
