Chemical Assessment & Hydrocarbon Potentiality of Mobarak Formation in Eastern and Central Alborz

Existence of hydrocarbons in West, East and Central Alborz, have been approved since few years ago. Based on these indications, fifty-five out crop samples from Mobarak Formation (lower Carbonifer) located at Nloharak .Abad, Gaduk, Kiasar, Khosh-Yeivlagh and Jajarln sections were subjected to Rock-Eva! and intensive chemical analyses. Primary assessment of samples show that Kiasar tlʹpe section samples are very lean in organic carbon content and low hydrocarbon potentiality: whereas the remaining sections have good capability of producing liquid to gaseous hydrocarbons. Chemical investigations (EOM e.slroeiion curd /Jiomarkcr analyses) reveal that the Moharak Formation deposited in a marine environment (Khash-Yeiylagh area) and on going towards north-east direction ofʹAlbor: Basin, these conditions change to shallow marine environment with in put of organic matter with terrestrial origin, Maturation level of organic matter also changes from stage of early mature to late maturity in saute direction.
