Noise pollution have caused numerous adverse effects as well as mental and physical problems. Therefore it seems to he of vital importance to measure accurately and find the methods to reduce or somehow to control the noise pollution. Noise pollution in developed countries poses as great a problem as other environmental pollutions. In metropolitan cities traffic flow in freeways and the velocity at which the vehicles move along have made traffic, as one of the most important source of environmental noise pollution. In this study the level of traffic noise pollution in Sheykh Fazlollah NooriFreeway was measured. In this cross sectional study the route was divided into stations, then equivalent sound pressure level was measured. The results showed that the noise levels are higher than the suggested permitted levels by the Department of the Environment. The traffic flow and velocity of vehicles were calculated by the distance, time and manual counting methods and the regression curves were drawn. The results showed no significant relation between sound level and two factors, traffic flow and velocity. Study of statistical level (LN). traffic noise index (TNI), traffic flow and vehicles velocity showed no direct and meaningful relation between them. Same results were obtained for maximum values of LN, TNI, for some measuring stations.
