Determining the Optimum Price of Agricultural Water and the Rate of Energy Waste in Diesel and Electric Pumps (Case Study: Sarvestan Plain)

This article aims to determine the final prices of water pumped by diesel and electric pumps,and to estimate the rate of energy waste in them, as well as the cost of converting diesel pumps in to electric ones. The required data was collected in a simple random sampling just in 1999 from 100 users of diesel and electric pupms in Sarvestan Plain, Pars province. Based on the horse power, all pumps were categorized in three groups of 26-49, 49-74 and more than 74 B.hP. The results showed that energy waste in diesel and electric pupms in the first two groups was respectively 62.32 and 76.07 percent and 74.67 and 83.63 percent. They also showed that energy waste in diesel pupms of the second group was more than the same in the first group. The end, for converting diesel pumps in to electric ones, the maximum distance to country wide power network has been determined.
