Investigation of the Effect of Different Supports and Promoters on Cobalt-Based FTS Catalysts in Fixed and Slurry Bed Column Reactors

The best catalysts in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is cobalt based catalyst due to its activity, selectivity , and lifetime. The slurry bed reactors are very useful in this reaction. In the most patents and papers, fixed bed reactors are used for catalyst testing. Different condition in fixed bed and slurry bed reactors produced different results. In this research Co-based catalyst with different promoters is made and then charectrized with different methods. All catalyst samples were tested in a micro reactor in the same conditions and their selectivity and activity were compared. In the most catalyst testing in fixed bed reactor are gained same results qualitatively. The comparison of experimental results revealed that in fixed bed reactor hydrocarbon production rate was enhanced when promoted catalyst is used.
