Investigation of Changes in Amount of Plasma Lipids and Lipoproteins and Intracellular Magnesium in Diabetic Rats

Diabetes is one of the main metabolic diseases. It is recognized as one of the most complex disorders. Almost, the whole body is affected by diabetes, and metabolism changes sharply in diabetes. Recent research proved changes in insulin and magnesium level in plasma. This study analysed level change in magnesium, lipids and lipoproteins in diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced in laboratory animals whith Alloxan monohydrate injection. It was injected inter peritoneal at 120 mg/kg. 72 hours after injection, the rats were diabetic. At the same time, changes in the lipids, lipoproteins and magnesium level in plasma were assaed. Results of this investigation showed that triacilglycerol, VLDL and LDL in diabetic rats in comparison with controls were significantly increased (p=0). The cholesterol concentration in control groups was 91.51 ± 21 mg/dl and in diabetic rats was 94.18 ± 28 mg/dl and therefore was not significantly increased. Plasma HDL and magnesium in diabetic rats were sharply decreased. The findings show an important relation between the increase of glucose in blood and the decrease of magnesium in plasma.
