Symptoms of leaf, stem and pod blight were observed on several cultivars of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) in Mazandaran. A rod -shaped, Grace-negative,oxidase-posative and fluorescent Pseudomonas was consistently isolated from the diseased leaves and stems on sucrose nutrient agar. On the basis of the phenotypic features, the strains were identified as Pseudomonas marginalis pv. marginalis. The electrophoretic profiles of cell proteins of the strains were similar to each other and to a reference strain of Pseudomonas marginalis pv. marginalis ICMP 3553 (ICMP, Oakland , New Zealand) . Pathogenecity of the representative stains from Sari, Babol and Ghaemshar was confirmed on bean seedlings under green house conditions and the respective strains were reisolated from the inoculated plants.
