Finite Element Analysis of Shells of Revolution by Toroidal Elements(Non-Linear Shape Functions and Elements)

The analysis of shells of revolution is still a rhbatable problem in applied design. This is the subject of the present paper. Analysis of shells of revolution under axisymmetrical loading by the finite element method is discussed in this paper. Three distinct cases are considered in the solution: I) Solution of a problems by linear shape function and linear elements, 2) Solution of problems by non-linear shape function and linear elements, and 3) Solution of problems by non-linear shape function and elements (toroidal elements). The former two case have been already studied by researchers. The latter case, however, is of higher precision and complexity which has not been studied previously.
