The existence of impure public goods (club goods) with two special features - crowding and exclution and are provided by private sector - leaded to general theory of clubs. James Buchanan is the first who presented the complete model of clubs and fills the gap in the economic theory. In his model, by algebric tools and geometric exposition, the optimum size and number of members in club goods are determined. According to the theory, the individual motive for organizing groups is economic reason and choices are based on cost-and-benefit analysis. Theory of clubs, after Buchanan, has extended in both theoretical and practical aspects. In theory, there are advances in geometric exposition, income - price effects and optimal conditions. In practice, we can see its applications in transportation, regional public goods, intertainement, political coalition and international organizations. Wedding and celebration clubs, private pools and clubs are examples of the theory in different countries including Iran.
