A Theoretical Approach to Social Liberty in Islam.

Liberty is one of the most crucial values and necessities of human being which is always sought for by different nations throughout different generations. It has different definitions originated from different schools of thought and world outlooks.For instance, in Humanism, human-centerism has been given more importance than God-centerism and worshipping and obeying god is considered as a hindering and restricting factor for manʹs liberty, while in divine world outlook, there is a different look at liberty in which God worship will consequently lead to perfectionism in human being. It is worth mentioning that all countries of the world have defined a framework for liberty. In Iran, social liberty has been one of the outcomes of Islamic Revolution. Of course, nowadays we have witnessed that liberty slogans are pronounced over and over again, and every body has his/her own interpretations. This article, has tried to present a definition for the boundries of liberty especially its social one from Islamic view point. However, social liberties includes cultural, political, moral, and behavioral liberties. In addition, cultural liberty itself consists of freedom of thought, idea, expression, writing, and media and press which will be dealt with in turn.
