Arguments for the Unity of God in the Philosophy of Mulla Sadra.

Philosophers have tried several arguments for Godʹs unity. Mulla Sadra deals with these arguments in detail, scrutinizing, reformulating, and modifying them in order to improve their accuracy. He singles out two arguments, namely, the truthful (sedighin) and soul arguments as the only correct and complete arguments in this regard. This article attempts to review and generally criticize Mulla Sadraʹs approach in establishing the unity of the Almighty God, and points out some of its weaknesses. It also introduces some other interpretations of the truthful (sedighin) argument, suggested by philosophers after Mulla Sadra; it mentions some problems with the soul argument, and criticizes and reconstructs the argument from the unity of the world. At the end, the author evaluates the idea of the impossibility to argue for the existence of God, and the ontological foundations of Godʹs unity in the philosophy of Mulla Sadra.
