One of the performance problems in the centrifugal pumps is the cavitation phenomenon. Fluid flows with cavitation have complex physics and therefore many researchers have studied this phenomenon experimentally. In this paper, the numerical and experimental analyses of the cavitation in centrifugal pumps have been presented. Experimental investigations have been carried out on the hydraulic circuit pump with a special facility for the cavitation visualization. For the numerical simulation, the fluid flow in the centrifugal pump has been considered as steady, viscous, three-dimensional, turbulent and single phase, taking into account the rotation of the impeller by using the Fluent software. On the basis of the pressure contours in the pump, the locations of appearance of the cavitation have been identified. The comparisons of the present experimental and numerical results show a good agreement.
