Contrastive Analysis of Alternative Fuels In Transport Sector.

Although technology has introduced an easier way of life, it has caused the humankind to face a tremendous challenge. Depleting fossil fuel resources and ever-increasing emissions have led to a crisis at the present time where vehicles are known as an exclusive culprit. Therefore, it is necessary to find a resolution to minimize vehicles emissions. Since emissions are mainly caused by fossil fuels combustion, alternative fuels are able to be considered as one of the hardware solutions to the problem. The present paper, describing the characteristics of emissions and alternative fuels, attempts to carry out a contrastive analysis considering Iranʹs capabilities. The results show that, considering huge natural gas resources in Iran, compressed natural gas (GNG) can be prioritized among other alternative fuels. With regard to growing demand for alternative fuels, it seem necessary to make more investment in other fuels such as ethanol, methanol and de methyl ether (DME) and make the best use of the countryʹs production and exports capacity.
