A Survey of Motivations among librarians for Scholarly Publishing

Knowing about the effective and encouraging as well as preventive factors regarding librariansʹ scholarly publishing can be useful in the peopleʹs understanding of librarianship. Scholarly productivity will eventually lead to sustainable development for countries. The aim of this paper is to identify the motivation factors for publishing, translating and in general scientific and scholarly productivity of Iranian librarians. These factors were identified through questionnaires sent to authors in the field of library and information science. The results of this survey show that immaterial factors have the most effect and can be considered as important motivations for publishing
