An Introduction to Positivist and Post Positivist Theories of International Relations

Theories are the main results of a scientific discipline and also they constitute the basis of every science. International relations as an interdisciplinary science which studies the actions and reactions of formal and informal governmental and nor.governmental actors in international arena, is not an exception in this regard. Different international relations theory draws different points of view to us. Although these theories have relatively descriptive and analytic functions but they cannot forecast the future events. This article is not dedicated to solve the epistemological problems in the discipline. Theory is a way to institutionalize the knowledge and understandings which through that we can ask question and answer them desirably and at last homogenize our knowledge in the special course. This article tries to show the changes in international relations theory from the beginning and criticize them briefly
