Discourse analysis and comparative study oj materia ls written on elections are of paramount significance fo r shedding light on various app roa ches adopted and different viewpo ints maintained by all political pa rties in a country. The Ira nia n 8th parliam ent elections carry too much se ns itivity with it due to the two main p olitical wings, i.e. Prin cipalist and Ref ormist pa rties. The present article employ s the two techniques of dis course analysis and comparative study to discuss, exp lain and compare the editorials and other mater ial s of ʹjomhoriye-e-Eslarni ʹ and ʹK eyhanʹ as the two main p apers representing Princip alists in the 8ʹ" pa rliament elections, from Esf and 25, 1386 to Ordibehesht 6, 1387 (the second round ofthe elections). The discourse an aly sis 0/ the relevan t materials in the two mentioned papers reveals a kind of "int ernal " app roach to parliament elections in "Jomhuriy e-e -Eslami ʹ and "ex ternal " viewpoint in "Key han ". Although these two approaches are diff erent in various ways, hut they share a ll imp ortant princip le. i. e. both supporting the Princip alists
