A Comparative study on Marital Stress in coronary heart disease patients and healthy persons

The present study is aimed to compare marital stress in coronary heart disease patients and healthy persons. For this purpose, 48 coronary hearth disease patients were selected through voluntary convenient sampling among all heart disease persons who had referred to Tehran medical science university clinic, and, 48 healthy persons were selected among married employees and students of Tehran University randomly. They completed Stockholm-Tehran Marital Stress Scale (STMSS) and demographical questionnaire. Data analyzed by means of statistical indexes such as mean, standard deviation, ANOVA test and MANOVA test. Results revealed that significant difference between two groups (patients and healthy) in marital stress. On the other hand, the means of marital stress in females and males were not statistically significantly different. Also, difference in marital stress was not significant to literacy levels, job status and socio-economic status. The findings points to accelerating, fundamental and primary participation of marital stress in coronaryʹ heart disease. So, eradication of marital stress is important and necessary in preservation .and promotionof heart health
