The aim of writing this article is to illustrate the theoretical perspective of
Piagetʹs constructivism about creativity. Piaget provides useful explanation
about the concept of creativity through his theory of learning and cognitive
development. Piagetʹs 1981, suggests the concept of reflective abstraction as
the mechanism tor creativity. Piaget emphasizes on problem solving process
and that creative products may result from problem finding. He also
emphasizes on the role of interaction and collaboration in creativity. From
his theory the main mechanisms for learning, assimilation and
accommodation, play the important role in generating new ideas. In this
review I explain how the concept of assimilation and accommodation are
related in creativity. For Piaget equilibrium is an important concept to
explain the differences in cognitive and developmental stages among
children. Therefore, today researchers arc focusing on the role of problem
finding and problem solving based on Piagetʹs theory. They have
crystallized the process of creative problem solving, the role of thinking and
critical thinking as the origins of creativity.
