An Estimation of Adaptability and Stability of Grain Yield in Foreign Early Corn Hybrids

One of the complex problems, in improvement programs for, production of high yielding and adapted crop cultivars is Genotype x Environment (GE) interaction. To reduce the (IE interaction effects andto increase theaccuracy of selection, yield and stability of hybrids mustsimulhmeollsly be taken into account. In this study, nine early maturity foreign corn hybrids with KSC 301 were evaluated fortwoyears in seven locations in Iran ina randomized complete block design withfour replications. Theobjectives weʹrc to compete and compare Llifferent univariate parametric methods and to determine the most stable hybrids. Results ofenvironmental variance, coefficient ofvariation (CV), and Lin and Binns MSy/1 statistics introduced hybrids no. 7 and3 as the most stable hybrids while the other parametric methods namely Shuklaʹs variance, Wrickeʹs ecovalance, regression coefficient of Finlay andWilkinson, statistic of Plaisted andPeterson presented hybrids no. 2 and 8 as the most stable ones. Kangʹs method, which i.e.z combination of Shukla and rankʹs nonparametric methods, introduced hybrids no. 2 and 8 the IlS the stable hybrids. Finally according to the results of different stability methods, hybrid no.8 (KEH212/12 x K1263/1) wasintroduced as themost stable genotype.
