A study on effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral education of couples to decrease tendency to narcotic substances among patients dependent on

This research investigate the effectiveness of cognitive- behavioral education of couples on decreasing tendency to narcotic substances in dependent patients to opium. A sample of 30 couples, (one or both addicted) refered to addiction withdrawal ward of Noor hospital, were randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups (15 couples in each group). Experimental group received eight sessions of cognitive-behavioral education and control group received no specific education. Tendency to consumption of substances was assessed using a questionnaire that both groupes completed before and after program. Results of ANCOVA reveald that mean scores of groupes were significantly different (p=0.04). Therefore, it is suggested that cognitive-behavioral education of couples decreased tendency to opium in the experimental group compared with the control group.
