The efficacy of transactional analysis group therapy in marital satisfaction

The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of Transactional Analysis group therapy in marital satisfaction of couples. The population of the study was all the couples referred to the clinics and psychological centers in Isfahan, demanding professional services for their marital problems. Four centers were randomly selected. From the list of couples registered for receiving psychological services, 16 couples were randomly selected and assigned to the experimental and control groups. After the drop out, 6 couples took part as the experimental and 6 couples as the control group. Experimental group received 8 sessions of TA. "hidex of Marital Satisfaction" and "Dyadic Adjustment Scale" were used as pretest, posttest and follow up measures. The results of analyses of covariance showed that the experimental group was significantly higher on marital satisfaction both in the post-test and the follow-up relative to the control group (P< 0.05).
