ID Entification And Distribution of Bacterial Wilt Of Banana In Baluchestan

During spring and summer of the years 1999-2000, many diseased samples with yellowing symptoms were collected from banana growing areas of Balochestan. Bacterial suspensions were made from oozes extracted from vascular bundles of diseased pseudostem and were streaked on sucrose peptone agar (SPA) and triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TZC) media. A Gram negative bacterium with irregular, slimy white colonies, was isolated from all infected plants. All strains were subjected to different morphological, biochemical and pathogenisity tests and according the results, all were identified as biovar 1 (race 2) of Ralstonia solanacearum (E.F.Smith) Yabuuchi.
