Identification of the Requirements for the Application of Information and Communication Technology in the Development of Iran Agricultural Extension

The application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the information age has created new capacities and opportunities for the creation, access and dissemination of agricultural knowledge. One of the fundamental issues in the application of the potentials of this phenomenon in various sections, including agriculture, is to have a comprehensive perspective and meet the application requirements. Therefore, the current study intends to identify the requirements for the application of information and communication technology in the development of Iran agricultural extension. The geographical scope of the current study has been on a national level using sampling in six adjacent provinces of Semnan, Mazandaran, Kohgilooye-va-boyer-ahmad, Tehran, Zanjan, and Fars. The statistical method used was co-relational and the statistical population comprised members of agricultural extension faculties of the countryʹs universities, manegers and experts in agricultural extension. At the end, the requirements for the application of information and communication technology in the development of Iran Agricultural Extension were expressed through 40 variables which were identified using Factor Analysis on the basis of six factors: technical, managerial, cultural-executive, planning, functional, and organizational requirements. These six factors were responsible for 66% of general variance change
