چكيده لاتين :
Parents have significant role in behavioral interventions in children normal life due to their influence and close contact with them. That is why we increasingly consider the parent management training in treatment of children with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in recent decades.
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of parent management training according to Iranian culture in Solitary and in Combination with medication in order to decrease the symptoms of ADHD and behavioral problems. Using an experimental design, with pretest and posttest with control group, 28 ADHD subjects were exposed to three kinds of treatment, including drug therapy, 10 Sessions parent management training, and combination of both. Symptoms and behavioral problems were assessed using attention deficit hyperactivity rating scales and Connerʹs parent rating scales, and parenting characteristic features were assessed by parenting rating scales.
Results showed that parent management training would not diminish the base symptoms in behavioral disorder on solitary, but combination of treatment had significant influence on reduction of learning and psycho-somatic problems in children, in comparison with two other treatments.
Furthermore, parent management training reduced over-activity and verbosity but it had no significant changes in laxness. Considering recent findings, the intermediator role of co-morbid disorders and parent behavioral changes on parent management training are discussed. Further research is needed to shed light on this role
