Evaluation of Socio-economic and Environmental Impacts of Watershed Management Projects

River basins especially in arid and semi arid Jands including Iran and neighbor countries have always been populated and civilized. Increasing population and as a result pressure on water and soil resources in recent era, within change and improvement in water supplying techniques and cultivation systems, has caused more attention to these rare resources in our country. Hence, the management of natural resources and protecting plans in new methods has increasingly gained more importance and necessity. In this research, the impacts of ZRRP have been evaluated through a qualitative method. The results obtained from this research showed that the performance of the projectʹs measures in reducing the number of floods and increasing the area under cultivation were excellent and these activities had a considerable impact on crop yield and economic condition of the farmers. percent of the respondents agreed that the project had considerable economic impacts for the farmers, reducing the costs of land management and expanding the available land for cultivation, and increasing crop yield and the land price, whereas the effectiveness of the project on other factors studied such as the social factors was found to be statistically insignificant.
