A Study on the Status of University Libraries in Branches of the Islamic Azad Universityʹs Fifth Region and Practical Solutions for Improving the Current Conditions

This article aims to compare the current condition of the libraries of the Islamic Azad University branches in its fifth region, with the standards for university libraries in Iran. The research used survey methodology and studied all the university libraries of the fifth region of the Islamic Azad University. SPSS 10 was employed to analyze the information collected by questionnaires. The survey findings show that all the studied university libraries fail to meet the standards in terms of human resources, services, buildings etc. However, the studied libraries also have some positive features including: collecting information resources that the users need, designating 70 to 90 percent of the library budget for buying information resources, and providing fire-fighting systems.
