A Study Using Scientometric Indicators on the Scientific Information Produced by Researchers of the Water Department of Khuzestan Water and Power Authority During 1998-2006

The scientific capacity and capability of each county is a major indicator of jj its sustainable development. In order to expand the scientific capacity in a ^ country, the production of scientific information must improve in that country. > This research, which was carried out as a descriptive survey, uses scientometric ^ indicators to quantitatively study the scientific information produced during J 1998-2006 by the researchers of the Water Department of Khuzestan Water and Power Authority. It finally aims to design a database for fast and easy access to the information produced in this department. The research findings show that there is close collaboration between the researchers of this authority (collaboration coefficient = 0.45). Results also indicate that among a total of 192 research 18  projects undertaken by the researchers of the Water Department during the studied period, 136 projects (70.83 percent) were basic and applied research, 27 projects (14.06 percent) were library research projects, 17 projects (8.85 percent) were value engineering studies, and 12 projects (6.25) were books written or translated. It is also revealed that there is no meaningful relationship between the number of researchers and the amount of scientific information production.
