The Opinion of Users of the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology About the Librarianship Profession

In the modern world, in which new technologies have affected the librarianship profession, librarians are known as information providers. Confidence in the capability of librarians for providing information changes the opinion of each user and prepares the ground for librarians to be present, whenever needed. A survey on the factors changing the opinion ofusers ofthe Regional Information Center for Science and Technology revealed that users have confidence in professional librarians, trust their capabilities, and have a positive opinion about librarianship. Users also believe that new technologies (i.e. hardware, software, digital environment) had a good effect on their opinion. They expressed that visiting the Regional Information Center for Science and Technology made them have a more positive opinion about librarianship. Findings also show that there was no meaningful difference between the opinion of users from different > universities, with different levels of education, and of different genders.
