POLITICAL DISCOURSES OF THE MODERN IRANIAN CULTURAL WORLD

Cultural world is a network of presuppositions which is intuitively present behind the consciousncss of Iranian thinkers like an indisputable, unanalyzable, general background. This network of constructive rules forms the modern Iranian political discourses which are studied in this paper in terms of progressivist, identity-seeking, and contemporary political discourses. Each of the above political discourses has its major challenge and characteristic. The major challenge, according to progrcssivists, is the backwardness of the Iranian society and the attempt to solve it and its characteristic is the relationship between intellectual and political elites. However, the identity-seeking discourse, as opposed to the progrcssivists. believes in the confrontation of cultural and political elites. Finally, the contemporary political discourse maintains that its major challenge is the relationship between tradition and modernity and it is characterized by academic studies.
