A model for Analyzing the Paradox of standardization of Behavior and Creativity

This research studies the relation between standardization of behavior and creativity. Based on the existing literature a conceptual model was provided consisting of five variables: creativity, freedom, formalization of tasks, rules and job expectations. A questionnaire was prepared and distributed among a sample of researchers of the research institutes under the supervision of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Based on the collected data the proposed model was tested and the results show that there is a negative relationship between standardization of behavior (rules and job expectations) and creativity. It could be concluded that standardization of behavior leads to an increase in task formalization which affects the level of creativity negatively.
