A survey on the relationship betweenfamily power structure and marital confilicts

This investigation examines the relationship between family power structure (decision-makingʹs patterns in the family) with marital conflicts. The sample is composed of 67 men and women (45 women and 22 men). Two questionaries were used in this study: A scale composed of 42 questions to explore marital conflicts; and a test with 63 questions to measure family power structure. In order to analyze the collected data, Pearson correlation coefficient was used. In this research, it was proposed that there is a relationship between family power structure and 1) marital confilicts, 2) possession ofvalued resources (education, income and property ofhusband and wife) and 3) the population variables (number of familiesmembers, duration of marital relationship, age difference of husband and wife, and the stage of the family life cycle). The results showed that there is a positive correlation between family power structure and marital conflicts. The other two assumptions were rejected
