A Review of Gadamerʹs Philosophical Hermeneutics

Hermeneutics is a discussion of the essential bases of human understanding. At first, this discussion dealt with the series of rules pertaining to the interpretation of Scripture, but soon it entered the philosophy sphere to the extent that at the end of twentieth century the western philosophy became its main subject. Recognition of hermeneutic periods and the difference between numerous hermeneutic schools helps a lot in understanding the intention of hermeneutic designers. The philosophical hermeneutics, in seeking to find solutions for developing a philosophy pertaining to the nature of the understanding, was designed first by Heidegger and then by Gadamer. This article investigates different schools of hermeneutics, then introduces philosophical hermeneutics in detail, and finally criticizes it.
