Travertin seqvence in the Takab area is one of the largest deposits in Iran. These rocks are produced by the activity of a series of springs that were active in the past and some are still active now. Most springs are located around Takab City, particularly in northern area.
Geochemical studies of most hot spring waters indicate that, except Ahmad Abad and Zendan Soleyman springs, their chemical composition and salt cocentration are varied. This is due to the different mixing ratio of spring water with surface water and a wide variation of lithology that these waters passing through. All hot spring waters in Takab area classified as calcic bicarbonate.
Travertins in Takab area consist mainly of pure calcit minerals, and exept some impurity of oxide, there is no other mineral present. Travertin purity in the north-west of Takab are higher than two others deposits.
Chemical compositions of Travertin has been varied through time, as a result of PH and Eh variation of environment of deposition Displacement along strike - slip faults which bends on step over produces a complex zone of deformation which commonly result is a "strike- slip duplex". The strike-slip duplexes are contractional or extensional respect to dip-slip component of fault motion. Qareh
