Islamic Ethics and Mysticism

In the following discussions, we are seeking to identify the characteristics of the Godʹs servants in the words of the Prophetʹs household. To do so, we focus on the sermon no. 87 of Nahj al-Balagha as the topic of our discussion. In the first part of this sermon, Amir al-Mumenin (pbuh) has enumerated 33 characteristics of the most favorite servants of God. Although it seems that these characteristics have been attributed to the pious, wayfarers and mystics, Imam Ali was actually seeking to introduce his own characteristics and those of his impeccable scions; these characteristics are just attributable to Imam and his scions, and others cannot credited with such characteristics, especially at their highest level. In this series of lectures, Ayatullah Mesbah has stated, explained and commentated on the true wayfarers in the Nahj al-Balagha.
