The Status of Reason in the Realm of Religion

The purpose of this paper is investigating and analyzing the vital methods of religion and its role in humanʹs individual and social destiny as well as the crucial status of reason in the realm of religion, recognizing the faults in religion and reason, and the relationship between these two. Do reason and revelation enjoy intrinsic validity? What are the most important support for morality and humane duties? This article, with its theoretical approach, is a kind of warning to religious leaders to consider rational approaches in interpreting religious texts, analyzing doctrinal principles and rudiments, issuing judicial decrees, and stating religious obligations. One of the important findings of this article is that the intrinsic validity of reason and revelation, personal commitment and faith are the most important supports for human morality and obligations. Finally, the writer tries to remove the tension between the religious approach and the rational approach, reconciling these two approaches.
