Islamic Ethics and Mysticism

One of the characteristics of the eminent servants of the Most High God is their independence of passions and transient material pleasures. Although believers also, just like other human beings, need to enjoy and use worldly things for sustenance and survival, they never attach to this world, but regard it as a prelude to and a tool for nearing Godʹs Paradise. What has been rebuked in religious teachings is not enjoying worldly pleasures and desires, but loving them, being dependent on them and making them oneʹs end. Believersʹ enjoyment of material and worldly things and making it a preface to oneʹs happiness, perfection and elevation is a worthy and proper thing by itself.
