Morjeʹa: the Reasons for its Emergence and Leaning towards It

After the establishment of the Prophetʹs government in Medina, deep structural reformations took place, first in Arabic society and then in a major portion of the human societies. One of the manifestations of this was the emergence of influential movement of Irjaʹ, supported by many intellectual, political, economical and cultural backgrounds. As the Morjeʹa went astray after the collapse of Omawid dynasty and were constantly subject to criticism by various Islamic sects, many historical facts related to them have either disappeared or reported by their opponents. Therefore, recognizing the reality on this group is specially difficult. This article tries to investigate the intellectual and historical origin of Morjeʹa by using some methods and differing and even inconsistent accounts. The inter- and intra-religious factors leading to emergence and growth of Morjeʹa based on the accounts of early and late sources have been analyzed here.
