Islam is a universal religion and the holy Prophet is the last divine prophet. The philosophy of revealing Islam and sending the holy Prophet is to guide men and invite them towards ultimate perfection (monotheism). Maintaining active diplomacy and observing diplomatic rights make it easier and more logical to carry out this mission.
Having adopted an analytic methodology and a theoretical approach, the paper aims at explaining the role of Islam in expansion of diplomatic relations and the development of diplomatic rights, recognizing some concepts in this regard. According to one of the findings of the article, Islam is the original source of diplomacy and diplomatic rights, though it is prevalent that the West is the origin of diplomacy and diplomatic rights. Accordingly God is the first to establish embassy and maintain diplomatic relations. The proper measures taken by the holy Prophet in matters related to diplomatic relations and diplomatic rights are unparalleled throughout the history. Establishing permanent embassy is another of the initiatives of the Muslims.
