Some Major Concepts of the Durability Design of Concrete Structures 73-82

The idea of the durability design of concrete structures is developed based on the statistical theorem. Such the statistical theorem is based on the probability of failure, taking into account the time as a parameter of the performance function and of the loading function. The generalized loadings include environmental effects into the structure like mechanical loading and weathering (temperature changes, frost, moisture, pollutants, oxygen etc.). In this paper, the concepts of structural durability design, which is explored by the RILEM research foundation, would be introduced and criticized, In this paper, it was shown that how can be transform the statistical theory into the practical deterministic durability design, and what safety factors for service and ultimate states regarding the safety classes should be specified respectively.
