Qualitative and Quantitative Indices of Social Development

In development economics which is a branch of economic science, there are certain indices which are usually used for comparison of the level of development of countries. In this paper we propose a classification of development indices by categorizing them into three types-Qualitative, Quantitative and Negative indices. The main qualitative indices of social development include: 1- Level of Living, 2- Level of productivity 3- Rate of growth of population 4- Supporting ratio 5- Life expectancy at birth 6- Literacy rate 7- Mortality rate 8- Income distribution 9- Participation in social activities 10- Insurance coverage 11 - Sources of production of goods and services 12- Innovation and invention the main qualitative Includes: 1- Freedom of choice 2- Reconstruction and innovation objectives 3- Political will 4- Self-respect in the society 5- Security and Stability The most important negative indices of social development include: 1- Inflation 2- Malnutrition 3- Social cost of Producing goods and services 4- Existence of various kinds of dualities 5- High rate of disabilities
